Fencing For The Fox Yard

As many of you know we recently purchased a new property to start the next step into becoming a non-profit wildlife sanctuary. Part of this journey included adding a large secure yard where the foxes and other animals we take in along the way would be able to freely roam while still having access to the house to retreat during the hot Florida days.

We started this project in April and were originally quoted $17,500 to fence in two acres, we placed half down and the contractors began their work. After a week of placing posts and adding the fencing I realized that this contractor had never done this type of agricultural fencing before or was not upfront about his ability to properly handle a project of this scale. The fencing that was being placed would not be secure for the foxes and when I brought up my concerns the owner was not receptive stating that the project would need to be finished prior to me making judgment on the work. After I lost my confidence in the orignal contractor I had two others come out to advise if the fencing that was being placed would in fact be secure once the job was finished. I was told it was very poorly done, would not pass an inspection with the USDA, and was not what we were quoted as the measurements were wrong in several areas. We promptly fired the original contractor, but were not able to be refunded the money we had already spent on the fencing.

Now that we have lost our orignal funds for this project we are reaching out to you, our community, for help to finish this yard for the animals. The new quote is attached which includes the removal of the nonfunctional fencing and the placement of the new fencing. The contractor we are hiring has done fencing for wildlife previously and worked closely with the Tallahassee Museum to house their foxes, bears, and wolves. I have viewed his work first hand and have the upmost confidence that this fence will be secure and keep our animals safe while allowing them a more natural, enriching, habitat!
