Fern Spores Debut Album "The Understory"

Fern Spores is recording our debut album "The Understory" and needs help from our Fronds to make it happen!

Recording an album is a huge step for our band and it is important to us to choose a studio that aligns with our values. We found an amazing nonprofit called Women’s Audio Mission (WAM) in San Francisco that is dedicated to the advancement of women and gender-expansive people in the music business. We are so glad a place like this exists and are honored to support it!

We are humbly asking for funds to help us pay for gas, food, and (most importantly!) caffeine while we are recording. Our goal of $750 will pay for a large portion of our travel expenses.

Not only will we be recording at the only completely woman-owned and operated pro studio in the world, we will also be supporting other female professionals/ gender-expansive individuals in the process. Everything from album art to vinyl pressing to merch will also be from woman-owned businesses.

We are so grateful for our community who support us by rocking out at our shows and listening to our music. We are SO stoked to share this album with you! Anything you can contribute to this project would mean so much to us. Thank you for supporting women in music this holiday season!

"Fewer than 5% of the people creating the sounds, music, and media in the daily soundtrack of our lives are women or gender-expansive individuals" This was the quote that made us realize this was the studio we had to go to. We are excited to be a part of a step towards equitability and equality.
