Fernando Cazares final resting

On July 20th, 2019 heaven gained an amazing angel, Fernando Cazares passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones.  Fernando was adored by his family and brought so much joy to everyone he met. For those that do not know, the past three years started to become difficult as Fernando dealt with a handful of different ailments.  For many this would have slowed down most, but not Fernando.  He was a man determined to not be held down for any reason even if that included having a broken hip.  In the past three years Fernando was in and out of facilities.  In one case, Fernando (broken hip and all) decided he was done and was going to walk out. He somewhat succeeded before staff discovered him in the parking lot making his great escape. The news of his attempted escape did not shock his family as they dealt with this when Fernando was at home.  Even after the family confronted Fernando this did not deter him from trying to leave facilities.  On multiple occasions, Fernando was found half way off his bed trying to leave. When asked what he was doing Fernando would deny trying to escape. The family knew it was only a matter of time before Fernando would attempt another great escape.  


In June of 2019, Fernando suffered a major heart attack and the doctor explained to the family he would not make it through the night.  Not only did not Fernando prove to medical staff they were wrong he would ultimately make it out of the hospital and back home.  From there he made it to his 89th birthday (July 10th).  Fernando displayed amazing strength over these past three years and never allowed any medical issue dictate him. Though this was hard for the family to watch Fernando go through he always manage to make us smile and laugh.  


The life of Fernando can never be fully described in this short message.  Fernando was a man of character and always placed his family first.  He dedicated his life to always making sure those close to him were taken care of and always kept his home open for those needing assistance.  There are stories of Fernando coming home with no shoes on and when asked where they went he’d say “someone else needed them”.  Fernando was that man that would give the shirt off his back to make sure you had something to wear.   Fernando was a beloved father, brother, grandfather, confidant, and his passing has left a void in the Cazares Family.  Before his passing, Fernando had requested that he be laid to rest next to his beautiful mother and sister in Los Angeles.  The family intends on following through with Fernando’s wish.
