Friends, family, and colleagues near and far:
The Ferndale band program (both concert and marching band) has embarked upon a major capital campaign, of which this GoFundMe is a part. We have been nickel-and-diming instrument purchases for years, one at a time here and there, but we have come to a point where nickels, dimes, repairs, and duct tape just isn't enough. Our school administration and community is very supportive of the arts, but the state of school funding in Michigan is such that there just isn't money for the kind of investment we need to make.
We desperately need a new drum line (carriers falling apart, hoops irreparably bent or broken), some of our marimbas and vibes are 50 years old or have wooden keys that never should have gone outside, our marching baritones are being retired due to repairs and parts costing more than they're worth, bari saxes are 18 years old and have taken a beating and so on.
We are at a point where if we can't replace old or purchase new instruments we'll have no choice but to turn kids away. That would be a shame, as the band program has positively changed the lives, minds, and souls of 1000s of kids...we want to do that for more kids, not less, and a few more state championships (9 so far) wouldn't be bad either!
As a wise person once said, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and so too does a campaign of many thousands of dollars begin with your single step: a donation of whatever you can afford! Thank you in advance.

$11,000 Drum Line – Marching Band
$12,000 Marimbas – Marching Band
$3,800 Mellophones – Marching Band
$4,800 Baritones – Marching Band
$8,800 Baritone Saxophones – Concert Band
We are asking our community, friends, and extended families to help us reach our goal of purchasing new instruments through this Go Fund Me campaign, so that our students can continue to shine! Please consider donating to help us keep our students playing and marching!
