FES bike fundraiser

This past April, I experienced a T2 complete spinal cord injury, leaving me with paraplegia. Since then, I’ve been focusing on rehabilitation, adjusting to new challenges, and finding ways to improve my quality of life.

One tool that can make a significant difference in my recovery is a Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) bike. This stimulates muscles to:
  • reduce nerve pain
  • reduce muscle spasms
  • reduce muscular atrophy and subsequent pressure injury risk
  • improve circulation
  • exercise at home
Currently I can access a bike at the spinal centre. However it must be booked, a bus there and back is an hour and it takes about an hour of active therapy. So it’s a big commitment to try get therapy daily.
The hope is to be able to do this at home.

Unfortunately NDIS will not fund the FES bike.

I’m commencing a new job with retrieval services Queensland in November. This will limit my access to the gym FES bike as it is only available on weekdays between 8-5pm.

Thank you for being a part of my journey toward a more active and fulfilling life.
