Send the Feychild to England
Since pretty much the day she was born our Feychild - Jessica, has been creating art, telling her stories in pictures. Even while she struggled with traditional story telling - reading and writing - her art spoke volumes. Her Stick Figure Dragons comic strip garnered her many fans through her teen years.
It was no surprise to anyone who knew her that she decided to pursue digital animation when it came time to choose a college program and she still talks about her 2 years at College of the North Atlantic in Stephenville Newfoundland as the best two years of her life. The opportunity to live and work with people who understood her interests, and her art was a revelation for her.
But Digitial Animation is a competetive field, a 2 yr art college certificate isn't enough to land that first job, and Jessica isn't always the most competetive of people. So when we became aware of an opportunity for a Master Class in Character Animation with the brilliant minds at Aardman Studios we knew we had to offer Jessica the opportunity to continue to build at the work she started at CONA, and once again meet and work with people like her.
However, we've had our own life setbacks over the past couple years, and while the course is £3900 - the exchange rate, airfare, and 3 months of living expenses will put the costs north of $10,000 CAD. We have a year to raise these funds for her to apply for the 2018 session and we could use some help.
Its not always easy for a person to find their way in this world at such a young age, it's even trickier when you're different from others - whether autism or artist - or both. I promised my children all their lives, that we would always do whatever we could to help them pursue their dreams for their future. Art will always find a way, and Jessica continues to pursue her art and character creation through the addition of a kiln and her clay figures, but we want to give her this chance to work with industry leaders to see just how far her vision can go!
