Don protégé
Our son, brother, father, nephew, cousin, uncle and best friend took the stairway to Heaven ripping on his golden electric guitar.
At peace, with no pain or worries of this world.

Joshua:
"Ok. My faith is restored. I made an earlier post about being homesick regarding Florida and hurricanes. Today I had to stop at K-Mart after work to grab a few things...playing on the overhead? Three Little Birds by Bob Marley."
"And I step outside, and it is a complete downpour. People are running to their vehicles and carts are strewn about. But all I can do is smile. Someone upstairs must have been bored and read my wall and was all "Hey Josh, this is for you man..."

Joshua lit our hearts like no other bright, star filled sky. He was born an old soul and was wise beyond his years. He lit a room by just entering it because his charismatic character was hard to ignore. And you didn't want to.

Joshua's quick wit, easy charm, baby blue eyes and incredible smile was loved and cherished by so many. He was comically sarcastic, then gave you "that" smirk. He would raise one eyebrow to show off those baby blues and flash that gleaming smile to tie it all together. He created voices that would make you bellow with laughter. He was so funny. We'll miss that laughter.

His love for music, science, history and theological approaches brought out the teacher that he was always meant to be. Joshua always put others ahead of himself and felt others hardships deep in his soul. He was a tender care-giver and a compassionate individual.

His children, parents, brothers and having a close knit family was his driving goal. He had a way of wrapping us all up in a bundle for the best, biggest, and warmest bear hugs ever! We will always miss them.

The tragedy of it all...

On Monday, September 14, 2020 my son (I'm the mom) was taken to WakeMed North, Raleigh NC. He was diagnosed with liver failure at that time. After two long days while in the ICU they put him on a ventilator. At that time it was suggested that I call the immediate family. Dad, step-mother, brothers and mother of his children all live in Northern New York. A fourteen (14) hour drive. I was lost and all alone waiting in the waiting room for the prognosis. Liver failure was all I knew at the time.

On Wednesday, September 16, 2020 he arrived at WakeMed Main where he was placed in the Medical Intensive Care Unit. Finally, after suffering a heart attack and 7 hours of poking, prodding, bloodwork, CAT Scan, Ultrasound, x-rays and seen by numerous physicians, nurses, radiologists, surgeons and clergy, I was told that he had an internal bleed that they could not repair. His hemoglobin was at a dangerously low level... 5.2. His four major organs were shutting down and they were not certain he would make it through the night. Begging the CA for special clearance so that the family coming in could see him upon their arrival, was an all day ordeal. Since the hospital policy under Covid-19 states that only one person per day could visit.

On Thursday, September 17, 2020, around 12:35 am the NY family arrived. Thankfully, the wonderful nurse (Tammy) made allowances and let all 8 of us in to see Joshua. He was in a medically induced coma by then, so it was a very sad reunion. His kidney's were shut down now and his heart was failing.
On Friday, September 18, 2020 around 4:00 pm Joshua's all four of his major organs were functioning only by medical assistance. We gathered around him with all our hands on while the pastor administered last rights. We prayed and cried and cried and prayed. Each brother had one-on-one. Father and step-mother wept and held onto each other. Me, mom, became a puddle on the floor as my heart burst into a million pieces. Ex-wife sang and danced in her heart to their wedding song as she longed to be there again.
On Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 12:53 am, his father, step-mother and I (mom) watched our beautiful blue eyed baby boy, in a grown man's body, pass away.
How blessed we were to have him in our lives for those 38 short years.
The miracle of birth to witness his first breath of life.
How very special, yet heartbreaking, to be there for his last.
FINAL EXPENSES
We all stayed in a hotel right next to the hospital, as Joshua's medical status changed minute by minute. Eating quick meals when we could also added to the costs. Therefore, we have now found ourselves in a financial hardship. Times are tough for every one of us right now. We don't want to ask for help... no one does. But, we are really in a bind right now and could use some assistance right away. We will need a few more days of lodging, additional meals as well as the final expense costs.
We are humbly asking if you have a spare bit of change you could throw our way we would be forever grateful.
As Joshua's mother and resident of Wake Forest, NC just like Joshua was. I will be collecting the funds and using those for final expenses, lodging and additional meals for the eight (8) immediate family members that are here from NY.
Bless you for listening. Thank you for any and all support.
At peace, with no pain or worries of this world.
