Our friend Marlene is facing the loss of her rent to own home in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Marlene has faced and survived a number of challenges in her life including the foster care system, homelessness and shelter living which is why this home is so important to her.
After a serious illness last year prevented her from working, Marlene unfortunately fell behind in her payments. She has since returned to work and in good faith negotiated a repayment system with the property owner. Unfortunately the property owner changed his mind without informing her and Marlene was recently served with an eviction notice three days before Christmas. If she cannot settle the $7000 by January 31, 2019 she risks homelessness. An additional $4000 would allow her to have the deed transferred to her name permanently.
Homelessness is real and this is how it happens. If you would like to be part of making sure another person does not end up without a home please donate whatever you can.
