Casey Fehlberg's Medical Fund

I'm Casey Fehlberg's brother, Marc, and, on behalf of Casey's parents and siblings, am soliciting a donation from you to help Casey pay medical expenses incurred as the result of a severe snowboarding accident he was involved in on Saturday, Feb. 27th. He does not currently have medical insurance, so your generosity in any amount will be helpful and very much appreciated.

Casey was snowboarding in Park City, Utah on Feb. 27th when the accident occurred. Most of you probably know that Casey is an excellent snowboarder. As he was attempting a trick with big air (because Casey only does big tricks), he caught his front edge on the jump and was thrown through the air off-balance, landing face-first. He was wearing a helmet, but because of the way he landed, it didn't provide as much protection as it might have had he landed almost any other way. He was knocked unconscious on impact. Rescue crews responded quickly and determined he needed to be life-flighted to the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake. Upon arrival, CT scans showed swelling and bleeding in his head. Despite medical interventions over the past several hours, he remains in a coma. However, doctors tell us that, at the moment, his condition is stable, for which we are grateful.

We don't know what lies ahead for Casey, but it will more than likely include a long recovery process. What we know for certain is that the treatment he has and will continue to receive will be costly. For example, the average cost of helicopter life transport alone is estimated at $25,000.
