Sue's Recovery
Donation protected
As the mother of four boys, Sue knows a thing or two about fights. As the loudest superfan in Cary-Grove and Augustana College football history, she’s used to cheering her community on. As a self-employed go-getter, she’s used to paving her own way and going it alone when she needs to. Now, however, may not be one of those times.
Sue is currently kicking cancer’s ass as she gets back on her feet after a successful surgery in April, and is preparing for further treatment during a few rounds of chemotherapy. Sue is telling me (as I write this) that she’s not asking for anything in return for the years of joy, support, and success she brought to her communities that helped raise her family, but she happened to raise four boys that somehow know what’s best for her when she doesn’t want to admit it…
As we navigate this new challenge together, we (her sons, daughter-in-laws, and grandsons) are looking to those same communities for some cheering on from the sideline. She’s rather adamant that she’ll be fine (and we know that’s true) so, please, save any of your pity for someone else.
What might help in its place is an encouraging text to remind her that she has helped cultivate not only a loud family, but an even louder support group that stretches far beyond her last name and kin. We also appreciate any and all help we can get in navigating hospital billing offices, insurance premiums, and unforeseen expenses, and thank you graciously for any considered donations.
Whether you know Sue from her time growing up in Glenview, her years spent raising children in Cary, sending them off to Rock Island and Champaign-Urbana, or from her work throughout all those years, one thing is for sure: she’s impacted all our lives positively. We know she’s gonna win this fight, just another in a long line that she’s been thrown into in life - but the best thing she can have now is cheerleaders on her sideline - just like the kind she has been for so many of us throughout the years.
Thank you for your considerations and positivity, and keep on being good to each other. Cheers,
