JB's Record Lounge Phase 3 Fundraiser!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jonathan Blanchard and I am fundraising for JB's Record Lounge. JB’s opened its doors on June 3rd, 2018, in the back of a little-known coffee shop, in the Historic West End district of Atlanta, Ga. The 560sqf “shipping & receiving room was quickly forged into a fully functioning record store.
Our goal has always been to provide a space for local and indie artists to perform and sell their products while curating some of the best RnB, Soul & Jazz vinyl. I shouldered 90% of the start-up cost, only to be shut down on December 15th, 2020 by COVID, as a consequence of the coffee shop closing. For 2 years we attempted to survive and keep the brand alive by participating in “pop-ups”, where ever we could find them.
JB’s reopened on March 26th, 2022, funded with resources I had retained over the 2-year hiatus. Early in 2022, I began to search for another location, but I didn’t want to leave the community that we spent so much time and effort reintroducing to vinyl.
It was a great grand opening, and things look promising. We have completed the "lion's share" of the buildout, and we are beginning to reestablish ourselves in the community.
My goal is to acquire an adequate amount of funds to advertise, finish build-out (including lights, soundproofing, and recording equipment), for in-store performances, increase inventory, and hire employees. Meeting these goals and making these changes will enable JB’s Record Lounge to bring in an adequate amount of revenue, and allow JB’s to continue to serve the community. Thank you for your assistance.
