Fighting for Mason

Donation protected
6 year old Mason Moore is such a sweet and happy boy. He had been feeling under the weather so he was taken to the ER for fluids. While there, a CT scan and MRI were done where doctors found a lesion on his brain blocking the flow of fluids to his cerebellum. Surgery was performed the next day to remove the lesion. Surgery went well and doctors believe they were able to remove it all, however biopsy results were not the news we were hoping for . Mason was diagnosed with a medulloblastoma. Medulloblastomas are very aggressive malignant brain tumors. He was diagnosed February 2023 and has since been through 4 major surgeries and has spent 2 months at St Jude childrens hospital in Memphis, where he received 30 rounds of chemo and radiation. His treatment has left him very swollen and has caused him to lose his hair, but he is still such a sweet and happy boy.

Mason got to come home recently for a few weeks but soon he will be flying back to st jude Where he will have an MRI and additional testing to see how his body responded to the first round of chemo and radiation he received. The doctors will use the results to help guide the 7 additional cycles of chemo he will have to complete. Each cycle is 28 days so they anticipate being in Memphis for the remainder of the year. It will be a lot, but research shows that this protocol has the best results. The Moore’s have no choice but to do what they’ve got to do to get their boy well.

Richard and Jamie will both be traveling back to Memphis to be by Mason’s side. As you can imagine, this is a tough and scary time. Mason needs his parents by his side to help him fight and they need each other. Neither one of them have been able to work since February when Mason first got sick. They both had to walk away from their jobs and will be unable to work for the rest of they year while they care for their son.

They are praying that the chemo is not too hard on Mason’s body, but side effects such as nausea, fatigue, neuropathy, etc are very typical. Feeding tubes and extra fluids are common for Medullablastoma patients during chemo. His ANC and WBC numbers will decline and at times he will have no immune system. But Mason is strong and they will get through this fight!

Your donations will help them to cover medical bills, as well as their household bills and day to day expenses. Any amount at all is appreciated and will help more than you know. If you are unable to donate please share Mason’s story and help us to get his gofundme out there to as many people as possible. Thank you!
