Fight 4 Fenton
Donation protected
This fundraiser is built in support of Fenton Goetz (5) in his fight against pediatric cancer.
On October 11th, 2022, five-year-old Fenton Goetz was diagnosed with a brain tumor following several weeks of headaches and other seemingly minor symptoms. Within two days of diagnosis, Fenton received his first brain surgery at Seattle Children’s Hospital. The tumor was determined to be a very rare and aggressive cancer, a high grade primitive neoplasm with myogenic differentiation. Put simply, this means extensive, long term treatments including surgeries, chemotherapy, and in-patient care.
In the short weeks since his diagnosis, Fenton has undergone two more surgical procedures and has completed his first of six rounds of chemotherapy. In order to facilitate his treatment plan, Fenton’s family has moved out of their home and into a small rental space near the Seattle Children’s Hospital. Fenton will be receiving inpatient care for the first two weeks of every chemotherapy cycle. For the times he is able to return home, the Goetz family is learning to adjust their daily habits to protect his immune system in every way possible- from laundering his sheets and clothes daily to monitoring his food and liquid access, they are up for the fight!
Through it all, Fenton has remained a happy, excitable five-year-old who loves mazes, Captain Underpants, and his big sister, Linnea. He’s adjusted well to the Hickman line in his chest, his new home near the hospital, and his new friends in the pediatric unit. According to Fenton, he even, ‘really likes peeing in cups.’ Fenton, Linnea, and the entire Goetz family will continue to fight with ‘excessive happiness,’ and feel especially grateful to have each other during this uncertain time.
The journey ahead will be long for Fenton and his family, and any support is greatly appreciated. Fenton is a fighter- our hope is that you will fight alongside him with your thoughts, prayers, and, if you are able, financial contributions. Funds will go towards medical expenses, travel, temporary housing, and keeping Fenton safe and healthy as the next rounds of chemotherapy take their course.
