Fight 4 Mike (Help for Michael)
Donation protected
Michael is now 9 and has been fighting since he was 3. In July of 2018 doctors found a tumor in his brain that was 1/4 the size of his brain. Michael is the strongest person I know. He has been in and out of the hospital several times. Micheal has gone almost a year not needing any treatment, unfortunately he is no longer in remission. Micheal has been through many types of cancer treatments, Oral Chemotherapy, Intravenous Chemotherapy, Ommaya Tap Chemotherapy (directly into his brain fluid), Direct Brain Radiation, Full Brain and Spial Radiation. All of this treatment has taken a toll on his body but has not dampened his spirit.
Micheal’s parents have received some unfortunate news from their insurance provider. Micheal is being put on a new treatment; Optune Therapy a six month therapy accompanied by an Oral Chemotherapy. This treatment is typically only for adults so the insurance company has denied their claim. Micheal’s Treatment team at Phoenix Children’s Hospital are in the process of appealing this decision. Micheal’s parents are now in the process of trying to figure out how they are going to pay for this new treatment during the appeal process and beyond if the insurance company does not overturn their decision.
Original;
This is my 3-year-old nephew, Michael. Michael is the son of Teresa (my sister) and Jose. He is the youngest in his family. He has 2 brothers and 5 sisters. Michael also has a very large brain tumor.
We don't know how long Michael will be in the hospital. But what we do know is that Michael is going to have multiple procedures. Some of these procedures include but are not limited to - ct scan, MRI, blood transfusion, chemotherapy, radiation, and multiple brain surgeries. His parents, like any of us, do not plan on leaving the hospital while Michael is there. Both of his parents are long term associates of Walmart. They have communicated with their store and know that their positions are secure and will be waiting for their return. However their leave from work will be unpaid. Though they are going through this with Michael they still have everyday financial responsibilities. And now new and compounding medical bills. We are simply reaching out asking for some help. Help for Michael and his family. Thank you.
