Fight against absurd claim of 'inciting hatred'

Donation protected
Councillor Louise Elliot will be defending a complaint against her for ‘inciting hatred’ in the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

This is an insane situation. All I have said is the truth and facts.

We will be taking this as high as we need to as standing up for the truth, facts, and reality are too important to roll over. We'll be in the High Court if required.

We’ve got men standing on top of the podium in women’s sports, male rapists being housed in women’s prisons, and now people being taken to Court for telling the truth and sharing a valid and fair perspective. Most people know this is clearly very wrong.

Taxpayer money is being wasted on something so absurd it would be funny if it wasn’t so serious and disturbing. This money and effort should be going to real issues, like stamping out the true incitement of hatred and violence that's all around us, or funding lunches for the hundreds of kids who go to school hungry. There is no shortage of real issues that need attention.

This is ultimately an assault on freedom of belief, freedom of expression, and political communication.

The vast majority of community members know that the truth cannot be hate. Australia is a democracy and this disturbingly low threshold for censorship is in conflict with our essential rights to freedom of belief and expression.
