    Fight Bentley Fight

Raven Edinger is organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Paige Edinger.

When my sister (Paige) and her boyfriend (Lyle) found out they were having a baby, they knew their lives would be changed forever... a few months after they found out they were pregnant they got the news that their sweet baby had a condition known as hydrocephalus. Hydrocephalus is a condition where the there is a build-up of fluid in the ventricles of the brain, that causes head enlargement, and can cause brain damage. Can you imagine getting the news of something being wrong with a tiny baby you  have created, never seen, but loved deeply?

Fast Foward to August 16th 2018 Paige was home alone, Lyle was at work.... where you can find them both at Texas Hot Lunch in Kane and her water broke. Paige was hysterical because this was NOT supposed to happen in Kane.  Lyle took Paige to the Kane Hospital where she would be life lighted to Mgees Woman's Hospital in Pittsburgh. Bentley Edward Pierce was born on August 17th 2018.

They were aware before birth  that Bentley's condition wasn't good, but they didn't know how severe it was until Bentley was born.
Hydrocephalus took over most of Bentley's brain...  Bentley has been breathing on his own, opening his eyes, reacting to touch, and sound since the day he was born. He is a miracle. Paige and Lyle were faced with a decision that no parent should ever have to make, since there was so much damage to the brain, they could take the tubes out and let him pass naturally in their arms, or they could #FIGHT for Bentley. There was no question about what they were going to do. #FIGHT
Bentley was transferred to Childrens Hospital Of Pittsburgh on Monday August 20th to prepare for surgery, to put a shunt in and drain the fluid. On Friday August 24th, Bentley had his first (of many) surgerys. Our community came together to wear #blueforbentley in support of this little miracle.

Bentleys surgery went well, and he has good vitals and is still breathing on his own, still kicking his aunt (me) when i tickle his feet. And yesterday when I was visiting him, he made the first sound that anyone has heard come out of him...

Unfortunately,  hydrocephalus wasn't the only condition that Bentley was born with. Bentley also has Tracheoesophagea Fistula, It causes the esophagus to end in a pouch rather than connecting normally to the stomach. Normally the esophagus and trachea are two tubes that are not connected. Because of this, Bentley has to have a G-Tube but in, a G-Tube is inserted through the abdomen that delivers nutrition directly to the stomach. Its one of the ways doctors can make sure kids with trouble eating the the fluids and calories they need to grow.

So early next week, Bentley will undergo his second surgery, at being 2 weeks old to fix this problem.

Bentley has a long road to recovery, and will not be able to come home from the hospital at Childrens in Pittsburgh. Even though he has so many things to overcome, he is a miracle, and we (my family and friends) thank GOD everyday for bringing this baby to us.

Alot of people have asked me how they could help, and if they could send money, for food, gas expenses, lodging, etc while they fight the battle to save this little boys life.

Lyle and Paige are the type of people who feel bad taking from others what they havent earned themselves, but when it comes down to it, they are going to need help!

My family and I would like to thank you in advance for everything everyone has done, and if you are not able to donate, A prayer, good vibes, good thoughts, positive energy sent their way  is enough.

    THANK YOU ALL
