Fight Corporate Greed!

  • The One I love has been attacked and left for dead…

I’m not talking about the puppy in the picture. And, I’m not talking about the people in the picture. I’m talking about the pharmacy around them.

Since inception over 7 years ago, Lost and Found Pharmacy, a non-profit 501(c)3, has financially assisted thousands of people with the costs of their medications. Literally every dollar of income that is not used to cover costs to keep the pharmacy open, is poured into the Pharmacy’s Patient Care Fund.

Now, without actual explanation, Express Scripts has taken away over $26,000.00 supposedly as a retroactive fee for the year 2022. The attack has crippled Lost and Found Pharmacy financially.

It’s not uncommon for independent pharmacies to have to pay “claw-back” fees to Pharmacy Benefits Managers (PBMs) such as Express Scripts (others include Caremark, Optum, Humana, etc). Such fees have been based on nebulous, at times unfair, criteria, supposedly linked to a rating of “how well a pharmacy performs.” In the past, fees had been around 2 to 3 percent of income. But this past year has been much, much worse. Fees skyrocketed to 12 to 15 percent.

And, now, out of the blue, there’s this lump sum just being taken away for no reason?!

PBMs like Express Scripts do it because they can. And they can get away with it because we are small and we have no resources to stop them. So...does the pharmacy live or die?

Lost and Found Pharmacy refuses to die. Express Scripts’ attack may have been directed toward the pharmacy, but it it also toward the people that we touch. They are undermining the good that Lost and Found Pharmacy is trying to do and therefore jeopardizing our community. We love our people and will fight for our people.

So, since we refuse to die, we are looking for ways to live. Please help us fight Express Script’s Corporate Greed. Every dollar put into this GoFundMe, is a dollar that will keep the pharmacy alive and go forward to fight for our people. Thank you, in advance, to all of you who help.

We want to thank the media for their coverage on this at WTAE and WPXI. I also want to thank Faith Community Church for giving us time to share our ministry and our need with their congregation this past Sunday.
