Fight for Fava
I am posting an update here so it will be at the top of the page.
I am heartbroken to share that Amanda lost her fight with Covid on the 25th. After transfusions, antibiotics, steroids, antibodies, oxygen, a collapsed lung, and cardiac arrest she was put on a vent and into the rotoprone bed. After several days the doctors decided the the rotoprone bed was not helping and moved her back into a regular bed where they rotated her manually in an effort to stop some of the sedatives she was on. A CT scan was ordered in hopes that she would be a candidate for ECMO, unfortunately she was not stable enough to have the test completed. The test the doctors were able to complete showed that her lunges were no longer working, her body was not absorbing the oxygen, her body was full of CO2 and brain damage was expected due to the lack of oxygen. After very hard conversations her family decided to take her off of life support. Itwould be greatly appreciated if you would help this family as they prepare to receive many hospital bills as well as funeral expenses. Any shares and prayers for her partner, children, family and friends that are grieving are welcome. Amanda was a special person to so many people.
My best friend, Amanda is in the ICU fighting for her life. She took all of the appropriate precautions, yet ended up testing positive for Covid 19 on January 15th. On the 19th she went to the hospital with low Oxygen and Covid Pneumonia. She was sent home with steroids and antibiotics. On the 21st Amanda was admitted to the ICU, where she celebrated her 43rd birthday. Since she was admitted, she has had blood transfusions, antibody transfusions and has been on bipap (oxygen) the entire time. She has a collapsed lung but is improving daily.
Amanda is a genuinely kind person and an amazing mother. Mostly, I ask for your prayers that she heals completely but if you would like to help with medical care and cost that would be a blessing as well.
thanks so much for reading this. Mask up. Stay safe.
