Fight Hate for Those Who are Different!

Update: They ran a story on the local news to raise awareness (thank you gofundme for putting us in touch). It happened again last night but due a quick response from our neighbors and police we hope to have resolution. We got our flag back this time and I will replace the mailbox. We will continue to love and affirm those on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum.

As a side note, our local congregation at 1900 University has been working with Harmony to, as their purpose statement says, "affirm the dignity and worth of all persons without regard to gender, race, sexual orientation, or religious affiliation," and our family can advocate for why that is so important. Hello!

My name is Daniel and I live in a family that is fun, challenging, energetic, kind, and always working to be inclusive.

As a part of that, we like to share joy through bright colors, flowers, smiles, and being friendly.

Two members of our family identify on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum and we have many friends and family that have felt excluded throughout their lives.

To honor these individuals and to bring joy to our hearts we have flown a Pride flag as well as painted our mailbox with flowers.

Recently, on July 4, we discovered that our mailbox had been destroyed, our flagpole bent and broken, and our flag stolen. This was very traumatizing to our family and my kids were left feeling unsafe in their own home.

Thanks to the help of our loving neighbors we were able to get a new mailbox and we purchased a new flag to attempt to set our life to rights.

Last night we were vandalized again with our new Pride flag being stolen, our new mailbox destroyed, our mail burned and the trauma revisited upon us. Again, today, my children are scared about their safety and we have no mailbox.

The funds are intended to be used for a new mailbox, safety improvements, and any other additional expenses.

Every little bit helps and I will continue to replace our mailbox and our Pride flag. We believe all are of worth and that everyone deserves to feel included.
