GOOD NEWS. The hold is off and GoFundMe has told me it is transferring the funds, so donate with confidence!
As you know, Twitter banned me last August - for reporting accurately about the risks and lack of efficacy of mRNA vaccines.
GOOD NEWS. The hold is off and GoFundMe has told me it is transferring the funds, so donate with confidence!
As you know, Twitter banned me last August - for reporting accurately about the risks and lack of efficacy of mRNA vaccines.
In December, I sued Twitter over the ban.
On April 29, federal Judge William Alsup blocked Twitter's effort to dismiss my lawsuit against it.
THIS IS A HISTORIC WIN (and one that you will not be surprised to hear the mainstream media has largely refused to cover).
It's not just that the lawsuit survived where so many others have failed. The judge ruled that by June 20, only six weeks away - Twitter must turn over ALL its communications related to me and my suspension, including those Twitter had with the government and other companies.
This process is called discovery - for good reason! For the first time ever, a social media company will have to disclose if and how it colluded with the federal government against a person who was speaking out in ways the White House and Dr. Anthony Fauci did not like.
But Alsup's order is only the start of the legal fight.
Even before discovery begins, Twitter is likely to try for a protective order sealing the documents from public view - and to claim attorney-client privilege that will even prevent me and my lawyers from seeing some of them.
I want the broadest possible discovery and the narrowest possible exclusions. Most of all, I do not want a protective order - I want to be able to release these documents, if they contain information in the public interest.
So the legal fight against Twitter starts in earnest now.
Many of you have said you wished to support this suit, but I did not want to ask for money until the suit survived the motion to dismiss - something lefty legal commentators said could never happen. They were wrong.
Now it is crucial that Twitter know that I can't be intimidated. They will outspend me no matter what - their budget is effectively unlimited - but this war chest should get us at least through this stage of the case.
Twitter is arguably the most powerful platform for journalism in the world. Did it work with the government to censor me and my speech? If you care about the answer, I hope you will consider donating.
Thanks
Alex
NOTE AS OF 10:58 AM May 12:
You may not be surprised that GoFundMe is now saying the fundraiser is "on hold" and they need more information from me. I don't know if I've run afoul of their general alerts because so much money has come in so fast or this is specifically related to the fact it's a lawsuit for a cause they may not like. In any case, they have asked five questions. Questions and answers below:
1) Who you are
Alex Berenson, author and journalist
2) Where you're from
New York
3) Your relationship to the parties you're raising funds for
I am raising the money for myself, to fund my free speech lawsuit against Twitter.
4) How the funds will be used (please be specific as possible)
I will send the funds to my legal team, led by James Lawrence at Envisage Law, to pay for the suit. I may also use some money to pay for the defamation lawsuit I have filed against Twitter in Ireland. If any money is left over at the conclusion of the suit I will donate it to charity, most likely a free-speech charity.
5) If you intend to withdraw the funds to your own bank account, how you plan to send the funds to the parties you're raising funds for or use the funds on their behalf
Either by check or wire transfer.
