It's happening again, just like 2016. The mainstream media, pundits and pollsters are misleading people again, predicting that Trump and the Republicans who support his authoritarian insurrection and seditious conspiracy are going to win in 2022 and 2024. We at the New American Journal don't believe that for a second. This is a shot over their bow. It starts now. #Codger Power

Who am I and why should you believe and support me? I studied public opinion in Political Science as an undergraduate student 40 years ago, and have continued to cover public opinion for newspapers and online news sites ever since.
In the mid-1990s, after a decade in the news business, I was hired to teach journalism and communications at the university level and I ran a public opinion survey lab as a grad student and obtained a Master's degree, with a research specialty in media effects on public opinion. I went on to work on a doctorate in this same research vein, but ended up back in the news business working for The New York Times, The Nation magazine and other publications. Then I went independent on the web in 2005, where myself and other editorial board members of the New American Journal tried to warn people that Trump had a good chance to win in 2016, when other pollsters and pundits said he would not.
Now they are back, predicting a Republican takeover of Congress in 2022 and the White House in 2024. But I don't believe the mood of the country and the evidence supports that conclusion. Will you help us get the word out to more people and give people more hope for the future? Support this important work, please. We can't do it without you.
Every dollar we raise will go to pay the expenses of producing the journalism "the people" need to be informed citizens in a democratic society -- to protect democracy and preserve planet Earth for future generations.
