Fight with ALS – Support for Dennis Crawley
On July 30th, our brother-in-law Dennis Crawley received the devastating news that too many of his family members have heard over three generations – he has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The strain that has afflicted their family is an aggressive strain known as SOD1-A4V. Dennis is the 27th member of his family to receive the fatal diagnosis. Our family has started this fundraising effort so that Dennis, his wife Jennifer of 24 years, and children Justin and Ashley are able to obtain the medical care he will need to fight this battle.
Dennis has had the pleasure of coaching hundreds of young men in baseball and has been able to be involved in the game he loves. His love for baseball began as he was coping with the loss of his mother from ALS when he was 7. That is how he learned of Lou Gehrig, former Yankees player who died of ALS. It is with a very heavy heart he will have to hang up his baseball cleats and change his focus for the fight of his life. The many stories pouring in from former players on how Dennis impacted their lives has been truly heartwarming.
As his sister Deneane stated during her battle with ALS – “Your last months of life should not be about the money; it should be about spending quality time with loved ones”. Truer words cannot be spoken. Please help us support The Crawley family in their time of need to help alleviate the expenses not covered by insurance.
