Fight with Kelly Harris-NICU Nurse battling Cancer
Donation protected
In early 2019, at the age of 38, our dear friend Kelly Harris was diagnosed with uterine cancer. It was devastating news, but through pure strength, heart, and perseverance, and the love and support of those who know and love her, Kelly underwent surgery. Her cancer was removed, and though a long road was ahead of her, she started the journey to recovery. Kelly remained positive and looked forward to a long future without cancer.
Just two years later in January of 2021, after concerning symptoms arose, Kelly returned to her doctor for a check up. Unfortunately, the cancer is back, this time in her ovaries. Now Kelly is once again fighting for her life, but also taking on the financial burden that extensive medical treatment can cause.
A little about Kelly:
Kelly was born and raised in St Louis, MO. In her spare time she loves to spend time with her family and friends. She has two brothers, one sister, eight nieces and nephews, and four God Children who she adores. In her free time she loves photography, hiking and spending time outdoors, traveling, and teaching others.
Kelly has been a nurse for 14 years. She has dedicated 11 of those years working with babies, first in Special Care Nursery (9 years) and now St Louis Children's Hospital NICU (almost 2 years). I met Kelly six years ago when I started as a new nurse in Special Care Nursery. Kelly quickly became the person I felt comfortable to go to with my questions (if you're a nurse, you know how important this person is when you're new). She is so easy to talk to, such an incredible teacher, and so passionate about babies. It felt like a privilege to learn from her. Parents feel like their babies are safe with Kelly. They trust her with the most important part of their lives, and in return she provides their little ones with the best care.
To describe Kelly as a beam of positivity and light would be an understatement. She is truly the kindest, most giving person that I know. Her heart only knows love for people, all people. She is always thinking of others and putting them first. Even after her second cancer diagnosis, Kelly speaks mostly about how she hopes her story encourages other young, healthy people to get their routine screens, to ask questions about odd symptoms they're having, and to advocate for their health.
I'm asking for your help. Please donate what you can, but if you can't donate SHARE SHARE SHARE! While I know Kelly will appreciate the financial help we are offering to her, she is also asking for prayers and positive thoughts to be sent to her.
We love you, Kelly. Your team is HUGE and we are behind you every step of the way! #KellyStrong
