Our dear friend Lily needs your help!
On January 31st, Lily went in for a total hysterectomy due to complications from the ovarian cancer she fought 2 years ago. This led to the discovery that the cancer has returned with a vengeance. Malignant tumors were found in her lymph nodes and multiple organs. Without chemo treatment, doctors have given Lily a year to live, and even with treatment, her chances are only 19%.
For Lily and her family, this was obviously devastating news. Lily is the mother of two boys, James (13) and Preston (10), and was recently married to the love of her life, Jorge. Their new found love has been a turning point in what has been a very hard few years for Lily, to say the least. In the last two years alone, she suffered severe injuries to her lungs while fighting a fire, and developed a serious allergy to peanuts, both of which have led to many complications. The medical expenses from all this have been piling up. Despite all these hardships, Lily and Jorge managed to pull off a beautiful wedding in front of friends and family and the two were so excited for their future together.
Then came this most recent and horrifying news.
Lily has always seen the world as a beautiful place. She's dedicated herself to helping others, has given to countless humanitarian organizations and even put together some of her own charities. This last holiday season, instead of sitting around opening presents on Christmas day, she and her whole family took multiple car loads of warm clothing to the homeless shelters. She loves and helps those around her unconditionally, and she's been there for so many that have dealt with much less than what she's going through right now.
It's been hard enough with all the past medical expenses, and Lily being out of work for a month now from her surgery, they've been struggling to make even the most basic ends meet. Jorge works overtime every week, but it's just not enough. Now they are at a complete loss of figuring out how to even begin paying for Lily's treament. Simply put, they need money.
