Fighting Against Brain Tumours
Finding out our eldest son had a brain tumour was the worst day ever, but it was also the most fortunate; at least we knew it was there. Had he not suffered a head injury as a result of a skateboarding accident, we would never have known this thing was growing inside his head.
Again, we were lucky because we had access to a world-class surgeon, who acted swiftly to take the tumour out. Our son asked the medical team to take a photo of his brain during the procedure. Believe me when I say no parent ever wants to see a photo of their child's brain. He went through hell and back while recovering from that operation.
Despite their best efforts, the surgeons were unable to remove every last cell, and our son is now fighting another tumour. He has shown incredible bravery throughout this ordeal and is now undergoing radiotherapy. He is doing everything he can to stay as fit as possible, and he is surrounded by people who love and support him.
None of this – detecting the brain tumour, removing it, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, etc., – would be possible without the talented people who devote their lives to research. They are making new discoveries every day, developing groundbreaking technology and saving lives. That's why I want to do everything I can to raise awareness and funds for Brain Tumour Research.
At the grand, old age of 51, I will be stepping into the ring for a full-contact kickboxing fight on 19 September 2021. The fight will take place at the AFK Superleague event being held at Crookes Social Club in Sheffield. Tickets are £30 for a standard or £45 for a seat at a VIP table (with freshly cooked hot food)! If you want to attend the fight, get in touch with me directly; however, I would be just as delighted if you would make a donation here.
All the money raised is going directly to Brain Tumour Research.
Please support this fantastic charity.
Thanks very much!
