PRIDE has always been one of my greatest adversaries, but today, we're going to WAR!, because what I share with you could possibly assist someone else.
As a Community Activist, Author, Tranformational Speaker and founder of COMPASS , a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization for males, I strive to give back to my community by educating and preparing our youth to be successful in all of their endeavors.
With that being said, two years ago I was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease. I've had every test that you can think of from Baptist Hospitals top neurologist; I even flew to Chicago to get a second opinion. NOTHING CHANGED as far as the diagnosis is concerned. However, he suggested that I do some research on Stem cell treatment.
ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that causes muscle atrophy, respiratory disorders, cognitive impairment, trouble speaking, and can lead to paralysis or an early death.
I know some of you that I work with in the community have probably taken note of how I walk now compared to then, to maintain the integrity of our relationship, the progression of ALS is the reason. It's easy to question the Creator and ask why me? And for the record, I don't look at what I'm dealing with as some kind of punishment because WE all have things we must endure and overcome.see However, I've accepted my body is going through some serious changes, embraced the challenge, and I'M GONNA SHOW YOU WHAT FAITH LOOKS LIKE IN ACTION. So when you hear me say I'm giving my LIFE to assist our youth with avoiding going down the wrong path, I mean that literally.
At this point my only option is Stem Cell Treatment. My treament and awareness goals are to raise $50,000.00. If you know any resources that may be available PLEASE SHARE them with me. I must admit that was a real challenge, but my team insisted I share what I'm dealing with to bring awareness to this deadly disease known as ALS. Sorry it took so long. Now will FIGHT WITH ME?
