Fighting for DJ

Our hearts are saddened as our 11-year-old cousin Dennis Jean-Everette Ray McGowan (known as DJ) of Huntsville, AL continues to fight for his life. We make this request on behalf of his parents Dennis and Annitra McGowan. DJ found a gun that was in their family home for protection and tragically shot himself on the evening of Thursday, October 3, 2019. We can all ask the question, “why?”. Unfortunately, we are unable to answer this question, but what we do know is that we have faith and are trusting and believing in God and His plan for this family. We also know that God makes no mistakes and everything that happens is a part of His divine plan.
DJ was airlifted to Birmingham, AL which is approximately an hour and a half from his hometown of Huntsville, AL. At this time DJ is being made comfortable as he was taken off of the ventilator on Saturday, October 26th and is miraculously breathing on his own. He is continuously surrounded by his parents, siblings, grandparents and other relatives and friends as we await miracles daily. Due to the time that is spent at the hospital, the parents are unable to work and are even at risk of job loss due to this tragedy. These loving parents who refuse to give up on their son are also suffering from personal illnesses of their own, yet they have remained by his side during this very difficult journey.
DJ comes from a solid, God-fearing family full of love and structure. DJ’s sweet spirit always permeates the room and is loved by everyone. DJ loves music, dressing stylish and has been looking forward to playing the saxophone. He also enjoys hanging with his older siblings, Denai and Dennis II.
Many people have asked how they can be a blessing and support this family. We are asking our friends, family, and the community at large to give generously to help this beautiful family with their medical and daily expenses including but not limited to; food, gas, water, hotel stays, etc. during this tragic time.
Most of all, we ask you to join us as we continue to pray and believe God for FULL RESTORATION.
