Fighting for Floridia
Donation protected
We have set up this GoFundMe on behalf of our Beloved Rev. Floridia Jackson.
Over the last year, Floridia has been in health crisis after crisis battling with several life-threatening health issues. She and her hematologist were exploring new ways to manage chronic anemia. Blood transfusions, iron infusions and a weekly red blood cell boosting injection was a part of that treatment. Often weak, she kept pushing.
Fatigued, Floridia was hospitalized in February for a flare of a skin condition she's suffered with since childhood called Hidradenitis Suppurativa Stage 3. Very painful, it has worsened over the years and required harsher treatment. She's a light bringer, HS is a dark nuisance. After suffering with joint aches, bone erosion and over using steroids. she was finally diagnosed with rheumatism showing up as arthritis. Her rheumatologist and dermatologist teamed up and prescribed Humira. After injecting it almost 3 years, she experienced negative side effects resulting in kidney injury and plural effusion.
Checking in the hospital, to treat the flare, now sepsis, her kidneys failed. (Her nephrologist suspects the APOL1 gene made her vulnerable.) After being intermittently bed bound throughout the year, muscular atrophy has been a challenge. She is courageously fighting to regain her health and independence. Facing dialysis, mysterious hearing loss-- she entered long term rehabilitation. After a setback and a month long hospitalization, she is currently at a shorter stay Rehab trying to regain strength and walking endurance.
Insurance coverage for rehabilitation is exhausted. Despite positive signs from the latest treatment, she faces a long, tough road to full recovery. She will need home-health care, home modifications and long-term recovery/rehabilitation assistance.
If you are wondering what you can do to help during these trying times, here is your opportunity to make an immediate difference. Support this effort to help make things a little easier and life more manageable for our beloved friend.
Floridia has led the life of a dedicated servant--- community pastor, pastoral coach and counselor and at times has been the only “family” some of us had. She has dedicated her personal and professional life to healing the world and has done so professionally often without a salary.
If you know Rev. Floridia, you know, that she always makes you feel like you are the most important person in the room. And right now, friends, she needs our help!!
Any amount helps and goes a long way. Please help share this with others in your network and nudge others who've been touched by Floridia's ministry.
