Fighting for Honduras against Covid19

My name is Esteban Martinez, I currently live in NYC where is the epicenter of the virus in the USA, but I’m born and raised in Honduras, Tegucigalpa, Central America  my homeland country. 

Over 3 weeks now I had been infected with COVID-19 with all the symptoms of the virus, fever, body aches, chills, headache and dry cough, that is so painful that you start to go in stress and chaos for not be able to feel well and get better. Being in bed for almost 2 weeks in quarantine with painful symptoms, two thoughts came to my mind. 

One to be thankful to live in a city like NYC, where we have  access to all the basic essentials in the hospital and stores. 

The second thing that came to my mind is the Honduran people and how they are handling the Covid 19 emerging through out the country.
Honduras is a country of 8 million people, and 3 million of those people live in poverty and have to work too survive everyday. Now that the whole country is in quarantine at home many people are struggling to provide for there family.
I constantly asked myself how can i help my homeland country. In all of Honduras they have approximately 150 respiratory machines. The Hospitals don't have the capacity, and medical equipment to handle a surge of patient with Covid19. The admirable  Doctors risking their lives don't have  all the medical supplies to treat there patients. 

I hope my testimony today can touch your heart and to be gentle with each other in this hard times of need.


My friends and I have created a group to help contribute to our country and community during this crisis situation. We have come together and decided to make a campaign here on go fund me to help raised money for our community. After discussing with various  hospitals, doctors, and nurses, we have analyze what they need too properly handle the Covid19 situation. 




Our Campaign will be Focused on Four Goals:

-Food for the ones in need ( Essential Food )

-Fumigate Public Hospitals ( Prevention )

-Medical Equipment ( Mask, Disinfectant, Surgical scrub, Protective glasses, Surgical Gowns, Gloves, Surgical Shoes Cover, Nebulizer, Humidifier, Thermometer, Oxygen Therapy. )

-Intensive Care ( Clothing for protection, Special Mask With Googles, Ventilators )
-Telemedicine and Electronic Health Records Software ( Special Cameras for ICU)

Their are around 12  Doctors that manage ICU patients in our whole country and they are located in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula which are the main cities. We plan to use electronic health record combined with telemedicine. This way the internists doctors can manage the ICU patients in the different cities providing help and their experience to the on call doctors and nurses for patients in a critical state.
