Fighting Homelessness House Tenants
Donation protected
Fighting Homelessness is a non-profit located in Dallas, Texas, working toward policies contributing to homelessness. These policies use our tax dollars but do not directly help those in Dallas facing homelessness.
Right now, Hector (legally blind & disabled), Alicia (elderly & diabetic), and Charles are facing an emergency: After pleading with the city council and the mayor in April and May, there are still no housing solutions. Temperatures will continue to rise over 100 degrees.
Chad West, District 1 City Council, asked the Office of Homeless Solutions and Community Care to assist the tenants with housing. They have done nothing.
As of June 30th, they are homeless because Indio Management purchased their apartment complex and evicted them to revitalize the property and double the rent.
NO CITY AGENCIES ARE HELPING THEM!
The three are on fixed incomes that do not cover the rent without a housing voucher. Metro Dallas Housing Authority (MDHA) will not recognize their emergency situation.
Fighting Homelessness is paying for an extended stay for the three tenants until they receive the desperately needed housing.
