Fighting Luekemia with Kenny Walker
Donation protected
Hello family, friends, and anyone willing to open their heart to help us support Kenny in his fight against Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Kenny was recently diagnosed after visiting the hospital for an infection on his hand, which led to further testing, which now has lead him to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. He is currently receiving multiple simultaneous chemotherapy treatments. Kenny is 25 years old, and works for the Lower Township Police Department as a uniformed Police Officer. He is a firearm's instructor. Kenny is a great asset to our community, and has a strong love for his family and friends.
ACUTE MYELOID LEUKEMIA is a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow, with excess immature white blood cells. AML progresses rapidly, with myeloid cells interfering with the production of normal white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. Treatment depends on the stage; including chemotherapy, other drug therapy, and bone marrow transplant. His current treatment will be 2 types of chemo given simultaneously, one will be given continuously for 3 days and the other for 7 continuous days. After the initial treatment week there will be a waiting period of 7 days. This will allow the chemo to do its job. On day 14, another bone marrow biopsy will be taken to see whether the cancer cells have been wiped out or if another round of chemo is needed.
As you can imagine, this will all likely be incredibly expensive, and we want Kenny to receive the best care available from the most qualified Nurses, Doctors, Oncologists, and Specialists. As his care team are creating a treatment plan, we hope to take away some of the financial stress for Kenny and his family. Kenny has wholeheartedly served the community both in Lower Township and Cape May for many years. He has always helped others, been a positive role model, and lent a helping hand in other's times of need. Our dear friend Kenny and his family need us to come together and show him our love and support! We're hoping to offset travel and lodging expenses as well as medical costs not covered by insurance.
Thank you all for you generosity and support.
