ABOUT US4HER FUNDRAISER
Welcome to the Us4Her Foundation, a charitable organization operating primarily in Kenya and founded by Prolyne Nancie . Our journey began as a mentorship program for young teen moms in the slums of Kibra, evolving into a registered Kenyan Charity with a mission to address the pressing issue of period poverty faced by girls and women across Kenya.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, we have successfully supported 10,000 participants in 15 counties through monthly pad distribution drives and community projects. Now, we are embarking on a bold mission to assist 100,000 school girls across all 47 counties in Kenya within the next three years through our innovative "Adopt A Dispenser" project.
ADOPT A DISPENSER PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
- Reduce period stigma and school absenteeism
- Minimizes vulnerabilities such as SGBV, teen pregnancies, forced marriages, and other abuses.
- Alleviate the economic burden and foster open discussions about Menstrual Hygiene Health and Sexual Reproductive Health Rights
- Reimagine the value of girls in relation to education and well-being Increase STEM subject uptake through targeted mentorship
- Narrow the gender gap in education, particularly in STEM fields
- Enhance social protection and awareness of key human rights issues, including gender equality
- Improve accountability and impact measurement through dispenser usage reports
In May 2022, the Kenyan Government reduced its pad distribution budget from KES460 million to KES260 million, exacerbating the issue of period poverty. This reduction threatens to expose vulnerable individuals to forced early marriages, FGM, transactional sex for pads, and a potential rise in teen pregnancies.
Our mission as the US4Her Foundation is to mitigate these challenges and ensure that girls' access to education is not compromised due to a lack of pads.
