Hello everyone,

My name is Jose Flores, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my dear friend, Fahmeeda Hameed—a remarkable woman who has been battling Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer for the past 18 months while caring for her adult child with Down syndrome.

Fahmeeda’s journey has been one of unimaginable challenges, but also unwavering faith and resilience. Despite her own suffering, she has never stopped fighting—not just for herself, but for the loved ones who depend on her. Today, I’m asking for your support to help her continue this fight.

A Devastating Diagnosis & A Family’s Sacrifice

On September 30, 2023, Fahmeeda found herself struggling to breathe. She was rushed to the emergency room, where doctors discovered that her lungs and abdomen were filled with fluid. They drained an astonishing five liters from her abdomen and four from her lungs.

Just a few days later, on October 6, she received the devastating news—she was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastasized ovarian cancer.

For any individual, this diagnosis alone would be overwhelming. But for Fahmeeda, the stakes were even higher. As a widow and the sole caregiver to her adult child with special needs, she could not afford to give up.

Her family has sacrificed everything—their time, their income, and their own well-being—to care for her. But despite their unwavering support, the financial burden has become unbearable.

An Unexpected Setback—Another Life-Threatening Emergency

While undergoing treatment, Fahmeeda faced yet another life-threatening challenge.

She began having severe trouble breathing due to fluid buildup in her lungs. What started as discomfort turned into an emergency. Her son rushed her to the hospital, where she spent 10 days—2 of which were in cardiac ICU.

During her hospital stay, she endured:

✔ Treatment for pneumonia with 5 days of intravenous antibiotics

✔ The removal of 3 liters of fluid from her lungs

✔ The removal of additional fluid from her heart

She is still recovering from this terrifying experience, dealing with the toll of aggressive treatments, prolonged hospital stays, and the emotional exhaustion of her battle.

The Heavy Burden of Cancer & Financial Strain

Fahmeeda’s family is now struggling to cover between $5,000 and $6,000 per month in medical and living expenses.

Her condition prevents her from working, and while she has applied for government assistance, there’s no guarantee of when or if help will come.

Her family has already sacrificed their jobs, their sleep, and their own health to stand by her side—preparing meals, attending appointments, and ensuring she has the care she needs.

But they can’t do this alone.
