Fighting to Survive, Pray for my Mom's Recovery!

Donation protected
Our mother, Jodi Finnagan, is fighting for her life! Friday night, September 29th, our lives were changed forever. Her own son, my brother, tried to kill her, along with one of her lifelong friends. Both were shot multiple times, but thankfully survived. Having suffered multiple gunshot wounds, she has a long and painful physical and mental recovery ahead.

Our mother, Jodi, has had 5 heart attacks in the past, requiring open heart surgery. She suffered a stroke last year that she was still recovering from prior to being shot four times by her own son. To say the least, she is a miracle survivor. The process of recovering from multiple gunshot wounds will take all the strength my mother has and the support of her family and friends.
Jodi is a friend to many, and an advocate for all! Jodi is a public figure both within the town where she lives but also an active contributor throughout the state. She is a single mother of three (two girls and one boy), and a loving grandmother to two. She is a sister, a God-Mother, an Aunt, and a devoted church member.

Since moving to the Town of Lexington, MA, she has been a pillar in her community. She is a public figure, serving as a member of Lexington’s Town Meeting, as well as a board member of the Association Black Citizens of Lexington (ABCL). She has worked with the Lexington School Committee since Brent (her son/my brother) was in high school. Jodi has worked tirelessly and has made her mark in the Town of Lexington. She is frequently consulted and provides insight on the right course of action. If you are a change-agent in Lexington, you know her. When you need her, she’s always there! No matter the circumstance or personal health issues, she’s known to go above and beyond for all!

We are asking for prayers and financial support with her current and future medical expenses as she starts her recovery journey. At this time, we know she is going to need a new handicap accessible environment. With the injuries caused by one of the bullets, we have been advised that her mobility will never be the same. Additionally, she will require in-home care for at least a year. A psychologist is going to be essential to heal from this trauma and the PTSD, caused by her only son. She is going to need physical rehabilitation services from her bodily injuries.

Since my Mom is still an inpatient we do not know what all of her future needs will be. However, based on expected outcomes from her physicians, we do know and need your support with the following immediate needs:

(1) A total bathroom renovation to make her existing bathroom handicap accessible.

(2) New furniture, especially living room furniture. Not only is the furniture covered in blood because the shooting took place in the living room, it will not be mentally sound for my mother to see the vision from that night every time she is in the living room.

(3) She was shot in her back, leg, and hip and will require a new bed. The new bed must have options that assist with getting-in or getting-out of the bed.

I’m asking for your help to give my mother a trauma free and happy environment. She deserves your support so she can get back to some sense of normalcy as she continues her recovery journey.

PLEASE HELP MY AUNTY MICHELLE AS WELL! SHE WAS AT THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME! SHE SAVED MY MOM'S LIFE. https://gofund.me/3cf8180d
