Fighting with Lenny
Donation protected
Little Lenny was born 2/8/2022 he was diagnosed at 2 weeks old with a rare childhood cancer retinoblastoma (cancer of the eye) it started with Lenny having to have the cancer lasered off his eyes every couple of weeks but by December 2022 the tumors in Lenny's eyes were getting bigger and had started to move into his optical nerves which meant he needed to start chemotherapy. So he then had to have chemotherapy every 3 weeks for 6 months, but this made Lenny's little body weaker, he started to become unwell with sickness, upset stomachs and constant chest infections.
In July 2023 after completing his 6 months of chemo Lenny went into remission but sadly it only lasted 2 weeks before the cancer was back in his left eye, since then Lenny is having constant treatment of going under anasthetic to have laser therapy and cryotherapy to try and keep the cancer away as it has now returned in both eyes and save his sight, unfortunately this is still affecting poor Lenny and he's not coping very well with it all.
Lenny's treatment can only be given at Royal London Hospital. This means having to travel to London every three weeks for Lenny to have his general anaesthetics for his eyes to be checked and for him to have his treatment.
Lenny is such a happy boy and is always smiling even throughout everything that he has been through these past 15 months. We are unsure what the future holds for Lenny, but we do know there is a long road ahead of treatment and regular trips to Royal London for routine monitoring.
Lenny is taking everything he can in his stride, so far he's fighting cancer, he's fought pneumonia and constant illnesses from being immunosuppressed.
I want to try and do what I can to make life as easy for Lenny's family while they're all fighting this. Unfortunately due to Lenny becoming unwell there has been times they have travelled to appointments to be told Lenny is to unwell to have treatment. This is taking a toll on the whole family. Lennys brilliant mum needs to be at home to take care of him as he can't just go off to nursery like a normal baby of his age. Anything we can raise will go towards trying to make life as easy as it can for them now with multiple trips to London and anything Lenny may need.
Thanks for taking the time out to read about Lenny's story ❤️
