Mad-Girl saves the world
Donation protected
Madilyn is the youngest of the five Copenhaver children. She is a beautiful, kind, and funny little spit-fire that needs your help. Currently, Madilyn is still in the PICU (pediatric intensive care unit) fighting as hard as her sweet little body can fight.

Although the outcome is unknown, the family is sure to encumber many medical, transportation, and food bills. No family should have to worry about money during such a stressful time.

If you are unable to donate, please pray. Pray for comfort and peace for her sweet siblings. They love that sweet little girl fiercely and they are missing her greatly.

Also, please pray for Ben and Chrystal. I'm not sure that anyone can truly understand what it feels like to fear for losing a child. They need to feel the love of their friends and family rallying around them.

Update from the Copenhaver family (7/6/18):
Wednesday night, Madilyn’s heart rhythms changed. She wasn’t able to regulate basic body functions like her temperature or hormones throughout her body. I woke up to more than 12 medical people in our room. We did EKGs and echos multiple times after these episodes happened. Thursday is an emotional blur. Morning rounds didn’t go as planned, instead the medical team planned a family meeting. We spent all day with Mad-girl. I layed in bed with her, talked to her, napped with her and painted her nails Her body showed us multiple times over the last 30 hours that she was ready. Ben and I decided to make her a donor. Making that decision, and knowing when we would head down to the OR to say goodbye to our babygirl was awful. I requested holding her as part of he donation process... if I couldn’t there was no way I was laying her down on the operating table and waiting things out. I didn’t want her feeling alone. Instead, they brought down a rocking chair. I sat with Madilyn in my arms and Ben by my side and rocked her, held her close and consoled her as the little bit of her that was left slipped away. She was so peaceful in my arms and that is a moment I will never forget. July 5th at 11:56pm Madilyn passed peacefully with her momma and daddy by her side. She was able to donate both of her kidneys to a local child. We will know more info about the recipient sometime today. Children’s Hospital held a flag raising ceremony in her honor, it simply said give life. We cannot truly thank you all enough for the thoughts, prayers and messages we received over the last week. Please continue to pray for our family as we try to navigate the near future.
