Help Kimberly Fight Cancer! Surgery in 8 days!
Donation protected
Update: After months of daily battles with her insurance company, changing insurance companies, losing her PCP, having to meet with and battle with multiple doctors telling her what kind of surgery she "should" have, versus the type of surgery she "needs and wants" because of her connective tissue disorder, Kimberly has finally won her first victory by being approved for surgery through her insurance company, but she has lost most of her coverage and will be paying a higher price for everything, but she is positive because she now has a surgery date of 9/15! This all started back in June!
She has been on presurgery medication that has caused many emotional side effects, as well as losing her hair. However, through all this, she remains optimistic now that there is a date that the cancer will be gone! Because of her nature as a caregiver, Kimberly has been in the elderly care business for quite some time, helping her elderly clients by taking them to doctor appointments, making sure they are taking their medications correctly, cooking for them, and general overall in-home healthcare, even during this time while she fought with the insurance companies trying to get approved for surgery.
If you choose to donate, you will not only be helping Kimberly have the surgery but will be helping her survive the months after surgery as she will be unable to work due to the slow healing process.
Here's some information to get to Kimberly, if you don't already know this incredible person:
She is a wife of 15 years, but to her, it has been more of a lifetime as she and Eddy have known each other for 45 years. She thought she had lost him 2 years ago and again last year as he suffered a heart attack. Thankfully the doctors were able to save him, however, he now has about 40% of heart capacity and is on a “last ditch effort” drug that is saving his life, but has severe side effects. As life was getting back to normal for Kimberly, and feeling like her husband’s health was on the right track, she encountered a rambunctious puppy at the home of one of her clients.
The large puppy had jumped up on her scratching and brushing her chest. She didn’t feel it was urgent to see her doctor after a hematoma appeared, but she did anyway. He told her it was a good idea to schedule a mammogram, which she did. That is when she first learned of her breast cancer. Had it not been for the puppy, she would still not know today.
Kimberly has a connective tissue disorder which keeps incisions from healing causing her to have longer than normal recovery times after surgery. This was evident in prior surgeries and especially two years ago when she had 4 feet of dying bowel removed from her lower intestine. Because of this, she has to go with a specific type of surgery that will not include implants, and because she cannot have implants, her insurance would not approve the type of surgery she needed because it is considered "micro-surgery", and it is very expensive.
Kimberly continues to look at life with joy and love. She has provided care for so many when they could not care for themselves. She will not be able to resume work for 8 to 12 months after surgery and these funds will help pay for her surgical procedure and recovery.
We hope that you will consider contributing to help her in her special time of need.
