Filabusi Adventist Secondary School Project
Filabusi is located 100km outside Bulawayo, the second largest city in Zimbabwe, in Matabeleland South Province.
Filabusi children fighting a battle that no other children should have to face in the 21st century. They fight to get basic education in a basic school environment. These children must face a choice of staying at home and remain illiterate or embark on a 10km journey every day to the nearest secondary school which is already overpopulated for its capacity. By the way they must walk this torturous journey of 10km. They are just being children who end upon on the wrong side of both law and life because of lack of education.
These are lovely and decent kids who just need to be at school, learning and trying to fulfil their dreams of whatever they want to be in life. however, they don’t have a nearby school. The only available secondary school is not just distance away, it is also overcrowded, poorly equipped. The teacher child ratio is extremely high.
We have started this GOFUNDME account to assist with completion of the building for a new secondary school which will be accessible to many these children. A school which will offer better learning facilities and ensure these children do not have to choose between walking 10km and getting an education. Come rain season these children will travel to school without having to cross any flooded river, instead they will get to school fresh and ready to learn.
The money raised will go towards buying cement, roofing materials, bricks, door frames, brick force, plastering, floors, painting and decorating the school. With your help, we aim to have completed the building of the school by the beginning of September when the school opens for the third term in Zimbabwe. This will enable these children to have a decent life, concentrate on their education and do what all other happy children do.
It’s so rare that we get an opportunity to go out of our way to help make a change on someone’s life. This is a big chance for all of us to a make difference so that these children can rekindle their dreams. Remember, TOGETHER WE CAN DO IT. Thank you for reading this and sharing it.
