Filament Needed for Covid-19 Ear Protectors
Donation protected
Our 3D Printing Ninja students are printing ear protectors for essential workers. We have a limited amount of filament but we do have compassion and students willing to provide community service.
Gorham School Department, has allowed me to deploy all of our 3D printers to students in grades 5-10 that are willing to print ear protectors and currently we have 11 students printing either with their own printers or with ours. Heather Perry, our Superintendent agreed to purchase 3 more printers because we had students passionate about this project! Another one of our teachers wanted to support the effort and used her budget to purchase 2 more printers! She's actually the Maine teacher of the year, Heather Whitaker!!!
We have deployed printers to students and purchased several hundred dollars of filament to create and donate the ear protectors but it’s quickly being depleted. Please help us provide ear protectors for anyone that needs them! We will eventually run out of filament and our school budget can't support this. We need this money now. Each spool of filament costs about $25 . We can print about 100 ear protectors on each spool.
Our Ear Protectors have gone to Maine Medical Center and NYC, Mt Sinai Hospital as well as many assisted living homes and Veteran homes in Maine.
We hope to provide comfort ear protectors to any health care worker that needs them because they are the ones keeping us safe!
Gorham is proud to help those essential workers, so please help us continue the effort.
