Everyone knows Luca as a fun-loving, humorous, ready and willing-to-lend-a-hand kind of guy. Luca joined the Marine Corps in 1996 and served for six years earning the rank of Corporal. He was hired on November 15, 2004, by the Norwalk Fire Department and served on the line until January 31, 2011, at which he was then promoted to Fire Inspector in the Fire Marshal’s Office. He is always the first to respond with unconditional support in both his job and with family and friends.
All his previous training prepared him for the life-long adventure he would have once he married the love of his life, Rebecca on November 10, 2007, an anniversary date he would always remember (Marine Corps Birthday). On March 10, 2010, their first daughter, Bella was born, followed by Gigi on April 3, 2013. Again, his prior training served him well and has prepared him for being a Dad of two beautiful girls.
Luca’s life motto is one shared by the Marines, “Adapt and Overcome,” which he is utilizing with his current diagnosis; Brain Cancer. Now Luca, his wife Rebecca, and his amazing daughters Bella and Gigi need our help.
After enduring three brain surgeries over twelve years, they recently received news that the tumor in his brain has transformed into Cancer. He is currently fighting the battle of his life with the support of his family, friends, and medical team at Columbia Presbyterian. Luca's diagnosis is in the one percentile of patients worldwide where this is the case. The location of it makes it inoperable, and we are now in unchartered waters with the next course of action. He has undergone the latest LITT ablation followed by gamma-knife radiotherapy. Some of these procedures are not covered by insurance and the bills are adding up. His road to recovery is going to be a long road for Luca where he has to relearn walking and performing day-to-day tasks independently. With your help, we can help ease some of the financial burden, and get him the care that he needs to continue to fight the good fight.
