Filmer's Fight
Donation protected
On Tuesday, April 18th, surrounded by the love of his family ~ Filmer was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus - his body restored, healed & whole again. Filmer fought cancer courageously and with an optimistic spirit. The relentlessness of the disease could not curtail his enthusiasm for life, as he fought until the very end. He will be missed by many.
In the Fall of November 2021, Filmer Aquino began to experience feelings of discomfort in his throat & the ability to eat. And like for many of us during this time, symptoms of sickness were easily assumed to be contributed by the Covid Virus. Filmer had decided to manage the discomfort and tolerate the pain in hopes it would eventually subside. In the meantime, he had lost a lot of weight and he could no longer deny that he was clearly suffering from something more. After a visit with doctors, many tests, and scans later ~ Filmer was diagnosed with stage 4 Esophageal Cancer. After a confirming diagnosis, Filmer began his chemotherapy treatments and the start of his journey to beat his cancer began.
This battle would continue into the next couple years with upward success, but he met a low when he contracted the Covid Virus yet again. This setback resulted in him losing even more weight. This weight loss was enough to cause a halt in his chemotherapy treatments. It was hoped and prayed that he would gain the strength to continue the treatments, but unfortunately during this time the cancer continued to spread. The cancer reached & spread to lymph nodes, liver, and stomach tissue. The needed strength, although prayed for, was never quite achieved. Even in a state of decline, he was able to see and be visited by many friends & family members. He spent his remaining days sharing precious time with those he loved dearly.
Filmer had worries and concerns for his son Cameron and his future without him in it. In honoring Filmer’s last wish, it is the hope that we all can show Filmer’s immediate family support during this time of grieving in any capacity you are able to help. Please join us in coming together to show the power of a community supporting in prayer and action. Please know that any donation of support will be greatly appreciated! We are starting with a goal of $15,000. This money will help cover the cost of lost income from work missed, funeral & burial expenses, unforeseen charges, and to help give the peace of mind and confidence that we are here to support him and to help in any way possible.
Thank you for your continued thoughts & prayers of emotional healing and strength and financial support!!!
