HELP US TRANSFER THESE RARE 16MM SPORTS FILMS
Donation protected
We recently unearthed a treasure trove of 16mm film reels covering hundreds of high school, college, and professional sports teams that were played in Southern California from 1969 to 1973. At a cost of $275 to $350 per film reel depending on the size, these once-lost treasures are very expensive to transfer to digital video, thus the nature of this fundraiser.
What's on These 16mm Films?
Football, Basketball and Baseball games, Hockey, Tennis, Track and Field, Boxing, Ping Pong, Badminton, and so on. These films also contain personal interviews of just about every sports legend of the early 1970s that you can think of such as Muhammad Ali, Willie Mays, Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Pele, Roman Gabriel, Jack Snow, Merlin Olsen, Evil Knievel, George Foreman, Walter Auston and too many more to list.
We Need Your Support!
Because these rare color films are on specialty film with magnetic audio, they are not only expensive to transfer from film to HD video ($350 for a 10-inch wide film reel) but there are only a handful of companies in the country with the right equipment to make these transfers. We currently use Yale Film and Video in Valencia, CA to convert the films to HD video. Ironically, Yale is the same company that shot the footage some 5 decades ago which is now run by the original owner's 63-year-old son Keith Anderson.
