Filming «To the Moon» a story against child abuse

Hello friends, film lovers, and child advocates. I’m actor/writer, Michael Dukakis, and I’m fundraising to turn my award-winning script To the Moon into a film.

This script tells the story of a kid from a troubled family who manages to escape reality by fulfilling three magical tasks in his grandmother's fairy tale. It is inspired by true events and we are raising awareness on preventing child abuse. 

Olympia Dukakis was to star as the loving grandma who helps the young hero escape to an imaginary, magical world. To the Moon has been nominated for an award in 20 film festivals and annual screenplay competitions, winning first place in 10. These include Austin Film Festival, Beverly Hills FF, ECU European Independent FF, The Massachusetts Independent FF, Monaco Int’l Film Festival, Los Angeles LGBT Film Festival / Wildsound, Universe Multicultural FF, Cyprus International FF, London International Screenwriting Competition, Moondance International Film Festival, Los Angeles International Screenplay Awards, Hollywood International Diversity FF, LASA International FF, London Greek FF, American Screenwriting Conference, Marina del Rey FF, Hollywood Just4Shorts, Flicker's Rhode Island and others.

I have also written a 120-page feature screenplay, Ithaca, and once we film To the Moon, we’ll use it as a proof of concept for the feature-length version.

M.Dukakis brief bio:

BA in Fine Arts and BA in acting.

Acting and screenwriting UCLA certificate.

Former member of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and former President of the Theatre Union of all Greek Universities.

He has organized plenty of art festivals at the Greek islands and performed as a non-paid-volunteer in children’s oncology hospitals, nursing homes as well as in mental health institutions for adults, and autistic houses for children. He has been working as an actor in Greece, London, and Los Angeles for more than ten years.
