Finally in America - Welcome home Ghafoori family

Thank you for taking the time to read about Shirzad and his family.

In 2009 Shirzad began working as an interpreter for the US Marine infantry, and then continued his faithful service for 4 more years with Army special forces. Shirzad was not your average interpreter; he was trusted with weapons and other responsibilities that many others never had. After serving our country for almost 5 years, he decided to start his family. Him and his wife Nazira have since had two beautiful children Aisha, and Ahmad. Nazira is currently expecting their third child in December.

Shirzad and his family were trying to get on a plane at the Kabul airport in September of 2021 when the massive IED took 14 US military members lives. After that day their lives were flipped upside down, They spent months shuttling from one hotel to another in hopes of getting a flight. Living in hiding, in constant fear. Shirzad applied for his SIV in 2016 and as of July 7th they finally arrived in the United States, Shirzad has been fighting to make it to America for the last 7 years.

At the moment The Ghafooris are in a hotel, we need to raise money to help them to find a more permanent housing to help them gain normalcy, get the kids in a school system. They are safe but there is a long road ahead for them and my goal is to pay as much of their living expenses as possible so they may focus on him finding a job, his wife and children learning English and all of them adapting to American life.

This man served our country for years. We owe it to him and his family to show them what his service means. Anything helps and every dime will go to helping them.
