Financial help in the wake of losing Evan
Donation protected
Hi Everyone,
For those that don’t know me, I’m Harley - Sarah & Evan’s sister in law.
On Tuesday the 13th of February just 5days after his 40th birthday, Evan was rushed from his work place to hospital in a concerning state which resulted in being admitted to ICU.
We were advised that Evan’s blood pressure was dangerously low, and that he had an abscess on both his liver & spleen but were yet to determine the source of the infection and that he appeared to be in septic shock.
By 1.30am Wednesday 14th of February Evan was place in an induced coma with multiple organ failure and put on dialysis to give his body the best chance it could to fight the severe infection.
A probable diagnosis of Melioidosis - a nasty bacteria found in the soil of tropical areas such as FNQ after large bouts of rain - was provided by 1pm and the outcome of his condition was grim.
Thankfully Evan has made some minor progress overnight and a specialist team from the Gold Coast has assessed him and successfully transferred him to the University hospital in hopes it will provide him with the best chance at survival however this is not guaranteed and the reality is that if he survives he could be faced with some major health complications as a result of his condition over the last 48 hours.
Sarah and the kids have not only endured heart breaking emotional stress over the last 48hours with an hour by hour approach but are faced with a long road to recovery as a family and with that comes a great financial strain.
Evan will be unable to work for some time, Sarah is also unable to work currently while she tends to the needs of the kids particularly the youngest Mia who is ADHD and requires a large amount of support from Sarah in her day to day routine to help recognise and regulate her emotional well-being and also ensuring she is as available for Evan as she can be, especially with his transfer to the Gold Coast.
We are hoping to help reduce some of that financial stress for thier family so that they can focus fully on Evan’s treatment and recovery.
All funds raised will go directly to Sarah to assist in whatever way needed.
