Financial Assistance for the John Couch Family
Donation protected
John “Derrick” Couch MSN, RN, FNP, 52, of East Ridge passed away on Saturday, July 4th, 2020. He completed MSN degree at Southern Adventist University with a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) emphasis on May 10, 2020. His dream was to become the greatest FNP ever! All of the family resources went into making his dream a reality. However, John contracted Covid-19 shortly after completing his degree. His wife, Karol took care of him at home for eight days prior to him being hospitalized. He spent 38 days in the hospital in his fight with the virus, 36 of which were on a ventilator.
Karol wants everyone to know that Covid-19 doesn’t care or discriminate. She says John would want all of his colleagues and friends in healthcare and community to demand proper equipment and protection.
We are asking that you help his family with the enormous healthcare costs of being hospitalized with Covid-19. Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated by the Couch family.
John was a life-long resident of East Ridge and of the Christian faith. He loved playing music and was a member of the Micks Band. He was employed at MedFirst Medical in Fort Oglethorpe for the past 21 years. He loved his family and was affectionately known as “Bop Bop” by his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Karol Couch; parents, David and Connie Couch; sons, Bron Couch and Chase (Mahala) Couch; sisters, Michelle Couch Cagle and Kim Couch Wilkey; two sweet and adorable grandchildren, Kendall and Cooper Couch; loving aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
