Financial Assistance Fund for the Voong Family

This page was created to assist Katie & Zeke Voong with medical bills, general finances, and funeral costs.

For those who do not know the Voong's personally, here is a recap of the events that led to the unfortunate loss of our dear friend Steven:

11/23: Steven got sick with the flu.

11/27: He went to the ER and was admitted for low sodium count, fearful that he would die.

11/29: He became delirious, tested positive for strep, and succumbed to septic shock at 5 PM. He coded at 5:45 PM, was revived in 3 minutes, and was life-flighted to Memorial Hospital Central.

11/30: He coded again at 3:30 AM and was revived in 5 minutes. He was put under sedatives to help his body heal.

12/1: Steven's liver and kidneys started to fail. Steven's secondary code was from a heart attack. Only 30% of his left ventricle was pumping.

12/2: Became responsive after being taken off sedation. Steven had a tachycardic episode and tested positive for pneumonia. The doctor ordered a CT scan.

12/3: CT showed cerebral edema. The doctor ordered an EEG and MRI to test for brain function. Steven started having seizures.

12/4: MRI and EEG scan showed minimal brain activity and anoxic brain injury. His family decided to instate a DNR and say their final goodbyes.

Steven was a wonderful husband, father, son, uncle, and friend. He gave selflessly and never asked for thanks in return.
