Financial Help for Pastor with Long-COVID Issues

This fundraiser is to benefit Pastor Barry & Manell Morris.

Pastor Barry Morris has had COVID, and long-term symptoms of COVID, for about two and a half years. He has two infectious disease doctors, as well as five other specialists, that he currently sees. Pastor Barry is not contagious, but has some long-term symptoms and is on medication. The doctors believe that he is a "long-hauler" who will continue dealing with symptoms even though he is not a carrier.

Pastor Barry and his wife, Manell, have been in Ministry for over 45 years but have not been able to travel for Ministry due to the COVID issues and churches not being open. Many churches are not bringing in guest speakers or singers because of COVID, and because of that and the long-term symptoms, Pastor Barry and Manell have not been able to go out and Minister, which is the primary source of their income. They are part of a small church, from which they had to resign in 2020, because they could not fulfill their duties due to their COVID illnesses. This resignation caused them to lose their regular monthly income. Pastor Barry and Manell do not have monthly supporters like some famous, well-known Pastors and Evangelists. They also live in a small town, and there isn't much in the way of employment. The doctors have not released Pastor Barry to go back to work because of COVID-related issues.

A major item that needs funding is a new roof for their home. Their current roof is over 20 years old, and shingles are missing. There are places where there is no underflashing, and that has caused roof leaks that have created open holes in their ceiling. Pastor Barry and Manell have to set pots under the holes to catch water whenever it rains. Three roofing companies came out to look at the roof, and when the roofers picked up shingles, they fell apart in their hands. The lowest of the three estimates was $11,200, which includes fixing the current issues and replacing the roof. At the end of September/beginning of October of this year (2022), part of their roof fell in, and a raccoon and a couple of squirrels got in, and they had to call animal control to get them removed from their home.

Another need is medical and prescription funds. Pastor Barry gets some prescription assistance through Medicare, but some of his medications are not generic and are not covered by insurance.

Pastor Barry and Manell cut out many expenses and lived off their savings, but that money has been exhausted. They have been limited on grocery shopping for several months and have also been going to the local food bank when it's open.
