financial support after shooting

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kendall and I'm raising funds for financial support due to being a victim of a road rage shooting incident on February 23, 2024, my late mother's birthday. This incident happened when my partner and I were traveling home from the store. Another driver almost hit us in traffic and we honked the horn to get their attention. The driver followed us after we honked the horn and started shooting at us once he caught up, firing roughly 13 or 14 times. My boyfriend was hit twice in the right arm and left shoulder. I was shot in my right hand. The bullet passed through my arm and out of my right elbow. As a result of the gunshot wound, I personally sustained a fractured wrist, ruptured arteries in my right forearm, and severe nerve damage in my right hand. Even though my boyfriend has since healed from his wounds, I am unable to function normally for the time being. Prior to this incident, I had a thriving business as a hairstylist with an extensive clientele base. Despite having a loyal client base, I am simply unable to fulfill my professional obligations due to my injuries. In addition to my own personal obligations such as rent, I am the primary breadwinner for my immediate family as both of my parents are deceased; I currently support five younger siblings who live back in my hometown, Little Rock, Arkansas with the income from my business. My doctors are estimating that my recovery and physical therapy will be at least a full calendar year which means I will have to put my business on hold for the time being. I more than likely will have to start my business completely from scratch with an entirely new client base by the time I am fully recovered. I am an independent student living off campus at Spelman College where I am pursuing a degree in Women's Studies. I am currently in my junior year and have maintained a full academic scholarship during my tenure at Spelman. I am currently on an indefinite leave of absence from classes due to my injuries. My first year was spent on campus but I was forced to move off campus this year due to rising room and boarding costs. I currently pay $1100 per month in rent, over the course of the year that comes out to $13,200. Even with the tremendous support that is provided for mental, emotional, and physical health, income is still a major source of concern. I am currently seeking assistance with paying for my rent, transportation to doctor's visits and physical therapy, and taking care of the remaining balance on my medical bills which is $17,143.16. This is really important to me because I am going through a difficult season in my life without the support of my parents and minimal assistance available to me. I sincerely appreciate any help given as any support will help lessen the financial burdens I have currently. Graduating, obtaining my degree as well as growing my business is extremely important to me. This unexpected, tragic shooting incident has derailed my progress in my academic studies as well as professionally, so any amount of support will be a major help in keeping me afloat until I can fully recover from all of my injuries. I truly appreciate your kindness and support.
