Financial support for Jeff Schnur and his Family
Donation protected
Hi friends. The Schnur family needs our help. As some of you already know, Jeff was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome after he was taken to the ER on the 16th of May, and is essentially paralyzed from the neck down. He is currently in the hospital and will be receiving 4 more rounds of plasma exchange treatments starting this Friday. The next step will be inpatient rehabilitation. It is very unclear how long his recovery will be and how long he will be unable to work. Stephanie has taken a leave of absence to keep Jeff as comfortable as possible and she is doing an incredible job!
This is obviously a huge, unexpected, expense. And the recovery period is unknown. The expense at this point is also unknown. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Latest update from Stephanie on 5/30:
Hey FB friends and fam. Been a few days since I updated what’s going on with Jeff. He got the intubation tube out yesterday and it was replaced with a trach as he still needs to be vented. The trach will be much more comfortable for him. Tomorrow he will go in for surgery to place a J-tube for nutrition. He has an NG tube right now but it really bothers him as feeling has come back in his throat. Neuro wants to try 4 more rounds of Plasma; 1st will be this Friday and then each Friday going forward. Hoping for more feeling to come back and more movement. He hasn’t been able to have PT/OT for a couple days so he’s not moving as much as before. Could also be from the trauma/recovery of surgery yesterday. We could still use all your prayers and good vibes as we have a very long and rough road ahead of us. I’ve been up here with him everyday all day for the most part (same with his mama) as he cannot talk or move his body to communicate. We are still communicating through spelling words with him nodding or shaking his head. He has double vision so flash cards are useless and can’t point or talk anyways. It really is a scary thing and I feel so bad for him. We are just trying to battle through each day. Thank you to everyone who has been checking in and offering to grab Khloe, etc. It means more than you could ever know!
